With ever increasing speeds and capabilities, web pages are more open to complex and creative design.
Web designers no longer have to rely on solid, monochrome backgrounds. There has also been a trend towards making the background the main visual element.
The background sets the mood and the body delivers the message. So, the background can be a little more adventurous, while the content best remains simple and without too much visual distraction.
